2. Configure Storage and Sync

Decide where your data lives. By default, Colanode uses local storage on your server. If you want optional sync (for mobile clients or redundancy), configure the sync layer — it’s encrypted, so you’re not handing data to a third party.

3. Invite Your Team

Create accounts for team members. Unlike SaaS, there’s no per-seat billing — add as many users as your server can handle. Set permissions at the workspace and document level.

4. Define Your Schema

Create custom document types and fields for your workflow. If you’re migrating from Notion, you can map your existing templates to Colanode’s extensible schema. The learning curve is gentler than Notion’s because you’re building exactly what you need, not learning Notion’s opinionated defaults.
